Loving Leopards Penthouse
A panoramic penthouse, taking up the entire top floor of The Pineapple Wing. An expanse of white walls and floors, and gold-on-black jungle wallpaper, reaches out to massive floor-to-ceiling windows, with views across hills and rambling jungle plantations. Gold embroidered curtains provide a total blackout when wanted. The Penthouse is accessed by a private bridge and surrounded by wide, private verandas with views into the jungle, the main hotel Walawwa, Amphitheater and infinity pool. Much of its furniture is made from teak and mahogany trees felled when The Pineapple Wing was built. A large antique family treasure chest occupies one wall. Old maps, photographs, original art and the bejeweled wedding clothes of a Kandyan Bridegroom decorate the walls. Specially commissioned lights fashioned like golden hellaconias light the space. Linked rooms provide a dressing room with safe, cupboards and porthole windows overlooking the Orchid Walk; a large white bath with mountain views, bathrooms and a choice of indoor or outdoor showers. The room is named in honor of the endangered Ceylon leopard.

Curious Chameleon Treetops Deluxe
A Treetops Deluxe Suite, paneled, floor to ceiling, in burnished mahogany, and accessed by a private staircase. The room is situated in one of the original estate buildings, a stone’s throw from the main hotel building. The room is furnished with restored art decor sofas, chairs, and dressing table; Swedish chandeliers and lights shaped as silver pineapples and golden hellaconias. Thick curtains provide total blackout. Tapestries from Vietnam's tribal highlands and sculptured panels from the Agaria of Madhya Pradesh line the walls. A protective net curtain shields the bed, although the incidence of mosquitoes in this micro-climate is rare. A double bed of antique jack wood provides a perfect viewing seat at treetop level, with huge floor-to-ceiling windows giving views on all sides onto estate gardens. The room offers plenty of wardrobe space, including a safe; and has a large comfortable bathroom with shower. It is situated on the first floor of the original Walawwa and accessed by a wide staircase hung with scores of antique local photographs and prints. Broad panels of old-style windows open on 90-degree pivots. Capped by traditional Sinhala awnings, they look out in three different directions, across hills, gardens and valleys. Pale pearl Roman curtains provide a total blackout as needed. Antique ebony furniture, comfortably restored, furnishes the room – from a large four poster double bed, to ebony thrones, side tables and a wide ebony day bed, perfect as a daydreamer's perch. A 1849 hand painted Skåne chest makes links east and west. Lights, in the shape of golden heliconias, silver pineapples and colocasia leaves, brighten the airy space. A beautiful Heritage art deco black-and-white bedroom with cool terrazzo floors and inspired by a beast common across the Estate – the porcupine. It is situated on the ground floor of the original Walawwa and opens onto a wide veranda with views across the old Spice Court. It is fitted out with contemporary black and white furniture, a four-poster bed and seating. The sleeping area is hung with mosquito nets, although the incidence of mosquitoes in this micro-climate is rare. It is decorated with contemporary Sri Lankan tapestries by Ena de Silva, gold-and-black Japanese lacquer; and minimalist European lithographs.
