EXPLORE
Anguilla
Anguilla is a tranquil gem surrounded by cobalt blue seas, one of the lesser-travelled Caribbean islands east of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. It’s an uncrowded paradise for those seeking a tranquil escape. Dotted with historical relics, mouth-watering luxury restaurants, and authentic Caribbean street food, the island is surrounded by picture-perfect beaches, including Shoal Bay, Rendezvous Bay Beach, and the cliff-enveloped Little Bay. As well as being home to ecologically critical coral reefs and beaches, the island’s history is preserved at the Heritage Museum and within its capital city – a small town called ‘The Valley’, home to various historical colonial buildings.

Geography
Anguilla is 26km long and 5km wide, making the sea a stone’s throw away wherever you are. Surrounded by stunning coral reefs, the most vibrant of these – and abundant with life – is to the right of Elodias at Shoal Bay East. Sites like Little Bay play home to stunning cliff formations and echo the island’s rich geological history.
History
Thought to have been inhabited by the Native Americans in around 1300 BC, the only surviving remains of Native American settlements have been dated to the year 600 AD. The souvenirs of this society can still be viewed as petroglyph markings dated around 600-1200 AD in Big Spring and Fountain Cavern – two significant geological landmarks on the island. The island’s more recent colonial history is more well preserved in the numerous colonial buildings dotted around the island, especially in Anguilla’s capital city, The Valley. From its Native American origins to the island's transformation by the colonial occupation of the English and French, Anguilla’s rich history can be explored at the island’s Heritage Museum.
