Senior Sales/Reservations Consultant
Indian Ocean & Caribbean (US Market Focus)

Reports To: Reservations Director

Job Type: Full-Time

Summary:

As a Senior Reservations Consultant, you will be the primary point of contact for US-based clients and travel advisors, designing and booking bespoke, luxury itineraries to the Indian Ocean and Caribbean. Leveraging your expert destination knowledge and exceptional customer service skills, you will manage the entire booking process from initial inquiry to post-travel follow-up, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for our trade partners.

Hummingbird Travel is B2B DMC/luxury wholesaler for the Indian Ocean & Caribbean. Our global team works in a fast paced environment dealing with bookings of all budgets and logistical complexity. We are looking for ambitious, self-motivated people to assist in our continued growth in the US market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle incoming reservation inquiries via phone, email, and online platforms from travel agents in the US market.
  • Design, build, and sell complex, tailor-made luxury travel itineraries, including high-end accommodation, transfers, and unique local experiences.
  • Provide expert, in-depth knowledge and personal recommendations on a wide range of properties and destinations within the Indian Ocean and Caribbean regions.
  • Liaise and negotiate with hotels & Hummingbird destination offices to confirm availability, secure special requests, and obtain competitive pricing.
  • Ensure all client documentation is accurate and delivered within specified timeframes.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling additional services, upgrades, and amenities to enhance the client experience and boost revenue.
  • Resolve escalated customer issues and complaints regarding reservations or travel disruptions independently and professionally, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, new properties, and relevant travel regulations (e.g., passports, visas, health requirements for US travelers).

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (3-5+ years) in a travel reservations, sales, or operations role, preferably within the luxury travel sector or a DMC.
  • Extensive, first-hand destination knowledge and experience selling travel to the Caribbean. Indian Ocean (e.g., Maldives, Sri Lanka, Seychelles, Mauritius) useful but not essential.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex itineraries and multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional and enthusiastic phone manner.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and quick thinking to handle unexpected situations or emergencies.
  • A proactive sales mindset with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends or evenings as required by a global industry.
  • Salary to be determined by previous experience.

Marketing Assistant

Location: London (Hybrid: 2 days in-office, 3 days WFH)

Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 + Annual Bonus

Role Overview

We are looking for a proactive and creative Marketing Assistant to support the Sales & Marketing team in developing and executing marketing initiatives across our website, social media channels, and email platforms. You’ll work closely with internal teams to ensure a cohesive, engaging, and effective marketing presence.

Key Responsibilities

Day-to-Day Tasks

  • Create engaging social media content and explore new ways to boost client engagement
  • Write blogs, news updates, and marketing copy for newsletters, the website, and social channels
  • Liaise with hotel partners and clients on joint marketing initiatives
  • Update and maintain website content
  • Support with reporting and data collection
  • Design eye-catching and on-brand materials such as invitations, posters, and vouchers

Full Scope of Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing digital marketing strategies, including social media and email campaigns
  • Build and maintain the brand presence across multiple social media platforms
  • Collaborate with the sales team to enhance campaign performance
  • Analyse key performance metrics (website traffic, engagement, bounce rate)
  • Identify and contribute to innovative growth and marketing opportunities
  • Prepare performance reports for marketing campaigns
  • Help organise client familiarisation trips
  • Complete general administrative tasks as required
  • Sales opportunities to engage with new & existing clients
  • Opportunities to travel to travel trade events

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or a related field (preferred but not essential)
  • Travel industry experience (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience in a marketing or advertising role
  • Strong knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social platforms
  • Familiarity with website analytics tools and digital advertising best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of current digital marketing trends and technologies
  • Creative mindset paired with strong analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety of personalities
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency with WordPress, Canva, Mailchimp (or similar platforms)
