Gal Oya Lodge
A unique safari lodge positioned on the edge of the relatively untouched and least explored Gal Oya National Park in the heart of Sri Lanka. Gal Oya lodge specialises in high-end, environmentally responsible tourism and provides a unique experience to guests visiting the Indian Ocean island nation. Comprising 10 spacious bungalows situated within 20 acres of private jungle and grasslands, laid out around a central pool and restaurant, every bespoke guest space is specially sited to take advantage of the spectacular views all around. Guests can expect to see a huge verity of wildlife and for those who are really lucky the chance to see elephants swimming from island to island in search of the freshest grasses.

All the bungalows are nestled within the 20 acres of private forest, specifically sited to minimize its impact on the land, and to frame the best possible views. All bungalows have a private living room and bedroom with a built-in king sized bed with an adjoining alfresco bathroom. The bedrooms feature spectacular floor to ceiling glass windows and doors that open onto a private veranda. The large spacious living rooms make it ideal for a family as there is plenty of space for extra beds. The bungalows are all made of teak wood with high iluk (thatched) roofs making them naturally cooling.
Food & Beverage
The main lodge consists of a bar/lounge area and dinning space on split levels offering an incredible view of the surrounding areas. The bar serves a mixture of local and international brands and stays open until the last guest goes to bed. The restaurant too will stay open until and serve meals according to the guest preferences. Breakfast consist of both western and Sri Lankan options, whereas
lunch is a al la carte menu with a selection of dishes from around the globe. Dinner includes a choice of either a western meat/fish option or vegetarian. Alternatively the traditional Sri Lankan rice and curry is available every evening. An organic farm has been developed on-site to supply otherwise unavailable produce. Almost all ingredients are sourced from suppliers within a 20km radius of the Lodge.

Location
Gal Oya Lodge is situated on the 31st km post on the Bibile- Ampara road in the Uva district. Most easily accessed by car it’s a 3.5 drive from popular tourist destination Kandy, 4 hrs form Polonnaruwa, 3 hrs from Ella and Nuwara eliya. It is perfectly located to fit into itineraries that include both the south coast as well as the east.
