When I first heard that Chef Trev Lockz was bringing his Jamaican-inspired fusion cuisine to Cora Cora Maldives, I knew I was in for something special, but nothing could have prepared me for the explosion of flavours that awaited! When I arrived to this gorgeous five-star resort in Raa Atoll, I knew it was the perfect spot to test out exciting Indian Ocean and Caribbean fusion cuisine.

Cora Cora Maldives itself is a dream. From the zen overwater yoga pavillions to the outdoor cinemas, not one detail is missed. Just the 45 minute seaplane journey from Velana International Airport, its the perfect spot for families, friends and couples seeking luxury and freedom.

Over the week long chef takeover, every meal was delightful, with very carefully curated blends of Caribbean spices and Maldivian touches. My favourite part was starting the day off with some refreshing breakfast shots and detox juices, such as good energiser before the start of the day! Cora Cora had some unbelievable sunsets as well, only made sweeter with Caribbean-inspired canapés and cocktails. I was especially excited to try the menu at Tazaa. The view at this restaurant is unbeatable with the beach and ocean always in sight. Each dish that came out of the kitchen topped the previous. The grilled octopus with ackee foam has a lovely light flavor complimented with the blackened spirulina swordfish burger, offering a perfect balance of spice and bold flavors.

One of my personal highlights was the Jerk Shack beach buffet of course. This was a fun experience as guests were able to watch the chef craft dishes live, he told stories about where he got his inspiration and flavour ideas! It really made the food even more tasty knowing the backstory and thought put in! The week culminated with a poolside BBQ at Acquapazza, complete with a floating party! Such a fun end to an exciting week at Cora Cora Maldives.
