125 SPECIES OF FISH & MARINE LIFE

 
The Marine Science Program was launched in 1992 and is now one of the Caribbean’s most comprehensive programs for monitoring coral reef conditions, replanting hundreds of fragments of Elkhorn coral, ensuring that Guana’s three distinct reef areas remain home to this marine life.
 


2 OCEANS & 2 RESIDENT DONKEYS

 
Guests have two oceans to choose from, the Caribbean Sea to the south and the Atlantic Ocean to the north, making it the perfect spot for water activities. 

Guana Island is also home to two resident donkeys, Jill and Jeremy who love banana leaves from the orchard.
 


300 IGUANAS 

 
Guana Island reintroduced a once-common native species of iguana, starting with just 8 adult iguanas to over 300 today. Dozens of previously undiscovered species of insects, plants, and sea life -including shrimp and molluscs, such as the “Guana Land Snail,” have also been found here.
 

4 MAIN ISLANDS TO EXPLORE

 
The British Virgin Islands (BVI) have four main islands: Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada, and Jost Van Dyke as well as 50 smaller islands and cays. Guana Island hosts day or half-day boat trips to explore the world beyond Guana. From a trip to their sister island, Norman Island (Robert Louis Stevenson’s original treasure island) or any other BVI destination including the legendary Baths at Virgin Gorda.
 


5 ACRES OF NATURAL GOODNESS AT THE ORCHARD


With over 40 different varieties of fruit, vegetables, and flowers, the Orchard provides a large portion of the fresh ingredients used by Guana Island's chefs each day. Staples like papaya, banana, and passion fruit grace the breakfast table. 
 



6 COMPLIMENTARY WATERSPORTS


Guests can venture off of the island to explore the local underwater world with a fleet of toys including kayaks, Hobie-cats, paddle boards, snorkelling gear, fishing rods or pedal boats.

With 7 white sand beaches to be shared with up to 42 guests, this photo is really as busy as beaches get on Guana Island. This makes it the perfect destination for couples and families looking for seclusion and tranquillity among the British Virgin Islands.

On the foundations of an 18th century Quaker estate, Guana Island is the eighth largest island in the BVIs and with just 15 cottages and 3 villas across 850 acres of land, the island offers lots of opportunity for exploration and adventure on land and at sea. 
 

99% REMAINS WILD

 
Guana Island has remained a truly natural island and has a strong perennial focus on nature and conservation. 99% of the 850 acres remain undeveloped and undisturbed. From the time the Island’s boutique hotel was established in 1934, building has been kept to a small envelope on the ridge overlooking the Caribbean and the Atlantic.
 
 


10  SPECIES OF NESTING SEABIRDS

 
Guana Island is home to over 10 species of nesting seabirds, making it a haven for birdwatching enthusiasts. The Caribbean Roseate Flamingo, Bridled Quail Dove, and White-Crowned Pigeon have all been spotted here. 
 



11 UNIQUE EXPERIENCES 

 
This BVI island has over 11 unique experiences available from boat excursions to fishing trips and starlight movie nights to lawn games, there is something for everyone at Guana Island. 
 



12 MILES OF HIKING TRAILS 

 
Hike trails take guests to explore the ruins of the sugar plantation and stone foundations of the Lake House, home to one of Guana’s early Quaker families. Reach the 806 foot summit of Sugarloaf Mountain for commanding views of the surrounding islands.
