Dean's Trip To Los Cabos

⭐Our Reservations Manager of The Americas, Dean, recently had the opportunity to attend the Los Cabos Summit Event through Black Diamond and the Los Cabos Tourist Board - follow along with his experiences here!⭐

"In preparation for our Mexico Launch we had been working away behind the scenes making setting our hotel contacts and establishing relationships with preferred hotels and suppliers. I was lucky to be invited by Black Diamond and the Los Cabos Tourism Board to attend the Los Cabos Summit event paired with a luxury hotel fam. Its was the first time someone from our reservation team had been to Los Cabos - and although I have visited many parts of Mexico in the past Los Cabos had always been high on my list of places to visit."

"The destination itself is so easier to reach if you are in the US/Canada and South America - but has always been one of the harder to reach destinations from the UK and Europe as there have never been so many direct flights operating, its often paired with US trips where guests connect for some beach time at the end of their stay. After visiting and seeing what this amazing destination has to offer - I would say its without doubt worth any extra travel time. It has it all. From the amazing beaches, the variety of luxury hotels, and the marine life that travels down the coastline it has something for everyone."

"We started our trip at The Viceroy Los Cabos - and what a welcome it was. If you are looking for a modern hotel with the wow factor then look no further. Viceroy makes its mark the second you walk into the lobby - the view across the resort pool and to the sea has to be one of the most spectacular in Los Cabos. The resort had a very trendy vibe - yet relaxed at the same time - and the team at the property were really amazing. We had a lovely relaxing afternoon enjoying the resort then it was time to head to the Summit launch party."

"The opening event was held at the fabulous SUR Beach House - a hot spot in Los Cabos - located right on the bay with views of the famous Arch (El Arco). It was a great chance to say hello to our hotel partners. Watching the sun set with cocktail and listening to the DJ set made it a night to remember." 

"The main event began the next morning - and two days of back to back meetings followed - a great chance to learn more about how Los Cabos has developed over the last ten years and to explain to the hotel teams more about the service we offer our wide range of clients and agencies. It's these connections we make that really help us to obtain the best rates in the market and to be able to resolve any issues if and when anything arises. We all left the meetings with a passion for Los Cabos and excited to sell the destination."

"Our next couple of days were spent staying at the Auberge hotel - Chileno Bay. It is located on one of the few swimmable beaches in Los Cabos so a great selling point. The hotels takes modern Mexican luxury to the next level. The resort felt like top end luxury but had a big enough main pool area and dining areas where it had a good atmosphere too so although very relaxing - it never felt too quiet. It could appeal to couples, solo travellers and groups alike. The location on the bay allows a variety of watersports - I recommend the sunrise Kayak or Paddleboards - if you are lucky you may even see whales swim past while you are out at sea". 

"We visited the second of the Auberge properties for dinner - Esperanza - set on the cliffside and with a more traditional feel than Chileno Bay - I would probably say this is one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. Even if you are not staying at Esperanza it's for sure a place I would recommend booking a table at one evening - it's not to be missed. The Auberge team were so welcoming and I cannot wait to head back when I have more time to enjoy the resorts."

"The following day was like a dream! We joined the team at APEX Ocean Safari who can help organise Whale watching, snorkelling and dive excursions. We were so lucky to see on entering the water a huge group of Mobula Rays. Watching them glide through the water below was really amazing. We then took the boat out the the famous Arch for some great photo opportunities - and then headed out to see if we could be lucky to spot some whales. I don't think we had realised what we were in for - but after 30 minutes of sailing we came across a group of 3 humpback whales - two males vying for the affections of a female. They jumped and span out of the water and it was one of the most memorable boat trips of my life - it felt like they were putting on a show just for us." 

"One thing I loved about Los Cabos in terms of the marine life - is that there are a lot of regulations in terms of the number of boats that can go whale watching, and also how close you can get to them. It felt like we were watching something amazing but from a nice distance. APEX taught us a lot about the sustainable tourism in the area and the wellbeing of the marine life which was great to hear. It was a an unforgettable way to experience nature at its best".

"Our final full day of the trip took us more inland - we visited the beautiful town of Todos Santos which is steeped in history. The murals and architecture that filled the streets were amazing. Todos Santos Boutique Hotel is a must see property - very quiet ten room property with a very interesting history dating back hundreds of years. For guests wanting to end their beach stay with something that little bit different - this would be the perfect place". 

"In summary - Los Cabos is special - there is a property for every type of guest and budget - and whether its relaxation or adventure ypu are looking for the destination has it all. Add Los Cabos to your list and I am sure you will not regret it."
