Hummingbird Meets Mexico: Launching Cancun & Riviera Maya

As with every destination we launch, there’s lots of work that goes into it behind the scenes and
we believe in experiencing it properly first hand. Mexico was no exception.

Earlier this year, our Head of Caribbean, Pip and Senior Caribbean Marketing Executive, Ellie,
travelled to Cancun and along the Caribbean coast of Mexico for an in-depth, first-hand look at the
destination. From Cancun down to Tulum, the trip was designed to explore the region’s luxury
offering, experience its unique diversity, and ensure every recommendation we make is rooted
in genuine, recent insight.

And it’s safe to say - Mexico did not disappoint!

To better understand the journey for a wider range of clients, the team opted to fly with Air Francevia Paris, rather than taking a direct flight from London Heathrow.

The experience was smooth and seamless, highlighting a great alternative for clients who may not
find availability on direct routes or are travelling from across Europe. On arrival in Cancun, they
were met by a luxury ground handling service, setting the tone for the level of service clients can
expect throughout their stay through Hummingbird

Over the course of an incredibly busy and inspiring week, the team travelled through some
of the Riviera Maya’s most sought-after areas, including Puerto Morelos, Maroma,
Mayakoba and Playa del Carmen. Along the way they stayed and visited a curated collection
of luxury properties, starting at ATELIER Playa Mujeres and ending at Hilton Tulum
Riviera Maya.

While the itinerary was packed - with close to 30 properties visited - there was still time to
experience the destination beyond the hotels. A standout moment was a catamaran trip from
Maroma beach, offering a completely different perspective of the region’s natural beauty,
from the bluest waters and opportunity to spot turtles and sting rays among other
vibrant marine life.
