Lora, our Senior Reservations Consultant, went on an incredible FAM Trip to Antigua organised by the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Board in October where they stayed at Blue Waters, Tamarind Hills and Hodges Bay and visited Carlisle Bay, Galley Bay, Cocos Hotel, Pineapple Beach Club and Hammock Cove. Here is an overview of what she thought of her first time on the island.
"The trip was amazing - Antigua is actually quite an active destination, despite it looking tiny on the map. I noticed what a big foodie destination it is too, with Rum Punches being offered everywhere you go. Being huge on food myself, and valuing an amazing seafood dinner, I must say a culinary experience that stood out for me was Papa Zouk which was a small locally owned and long established restaurant🍴The menu is really something else, as they actually don't even have one! Instead, the owners come to your table and tell you what they have, what they recommend and what is the best selling dish. I had the vegetable broth with red snapper - AMAZING! This was the tastiest broth I've tried, an incredible and truly homemade soup.
One of my highlights from the trip was getting to visit Stingray City - I was initially a bit scared to experience it but it was absolutely incredible! Stingrays are actually amazing and gentle creatures and it turns out their barbs can't hurt you the way I thought they could. They have a very gentle temperament and I found they're just curious, and they actually like to stay around people. They are magnificent and you can actually form a connection even for a minute or so with them. They can sense how you're feeling and if you are stressed they just swim away and if you manage to relax then they'll hang around (literally) on your arms and it was incredible for me to be able to experience this!"
